SAYLORSBURG, PA, March 10, 2013 – In the midst of the natural beauty and serenity of Saylorsburg, PA, over fifty enthusiastic women gathered at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam for the weekend from Mar. 8 to Mar. 10. Home makers, stay at home moms and career oriented women from Massachusetts to Washington, DC came together for an invigorating two day Sevika Varg.
Maanini - the woman of self-respect and pride - was the theme of the Hindu Women's Conference hosted by the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh of USA, at Ridgedale Middle School, New Jersey, on August 6th. This was in celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of Vandaneeya Lakshmibai Kelkar, popularly called Mausiji, who, in 1936, founded the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, a women's organization, in India. Discussions centered on the multiple roles of women, Indian traditional diet, and the central role of women in changing society.
As part of the celebration of the Birth centenary of Vandaniya Mausijee, the founder of Rashtra Sevika Samitee, Bharat, Erie hosted a workshop for women "Maitreyi".
It was our pleasure to have Ma.Shantakka, sarkaryavahika of the Rashtriya sevika samitee as the Speaker & Dr. Yashwant Pathakji as our guide for the workshop.
The program was attended by about 50 people, held at Montessori Children's house of Erie on Sunday, July 31, 2005 from noon to 6 pm.
Nearly 100 women gathered on Saturday May 7, 2005 at Houston's RadhaKrishna Temple. They spent the whole day in various activities to commemorate the centenary year of Laxmibai Kelkar, known as Vandaneeya Mousiji, who with great vision and perseverance started the Rashtreeya Sevika Samiti in India in 1936.
This served to raise the social consciousness about the power, role and duty of the women in building a harmonious society.
Hindu Swayamsevak Sangha, Santa Clara Nagar celebrated "Sakhi Sammelan" (Friends get-together) a daylong event for Women on Saturday, 19th March 2005, at Sunnyvale Hindu Temple.
90 women came for the event. This is the third year Sakhi Sammelan is celebrated. Every year HSS arranges this event especially for women to enjoy, learn, and get together with common interest of keeping great Indian culture and heritage live. This year's theme was "Arogyam Mahabhagyam" meaning 'Health is Wealth".
