Shakha karyakartas from Arjuna shakha (Centerville, Fremont) approached the City of Newark, CA mayor to present the SEWA activities they have been involved in the Alameda county. Mayor Al Nagy, was very courteous and responded to our email with an appointment on 09/09. Mayor Al Nagy was very courteous and presented us a brief history of the city.
Highlights of our meeting with the mayor:
HSS volunteers gave time, money and energy to over pandemic challenges.
They delivered food, personal protection equipment, non perishable foods and helped out of town universtity students find shelter in the Greate Seattle
SNY 2020 (Surya Namaskar Yagna) turned out to be a huge success in southern LA Metro area (Dakshin LA Vibhag). The grand samarop (finale) had total upasthiti sankhya by all four shakhas and guests was 102. We started the event with light yoga led by Shri Mansukh ji Kannaria of LA VYASA. After training our body and mind, we completed total 1,911 Surya Namaskars combined by all participants. After Surya Namaskar, Shri Prabhat ji of Art of Living led us through guided meditation.

As part of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh’s (HSS) continued civic engagement efforts, our volunteers held virtual meetings with Foster City’s police chief Tracy Avelar (8/1) and Vice Mayor Sanjay Gehani (8/2). The focal points were Universal oneness day revered as “Raksha Bandhan”, Yoga activities, Sewa Diwali and various other community initiatives by HSS.
