An article, “The Hindu supremacist movement is a growing threat in the U.S.,” published by Prismreports.org, reflects ongoing attempts to isolate American Hindus from the rest of America and Americans. Our request to this publication to provide us a space to refute the comments on HSS yielded no response. This article referred to Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA (HSS). This article didn’t provide a link to HSS official website but chose to refer to another biased and misinformed article from a publication of which reliability is in question. Since this earlier publication didn’t provide an opportunity for rebuttal, we published a response to this prior article on the HSS website.

We want to highlight the fact from our earlier statement, “Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA (HSS) is a non-political, nonprofit, volunteer-based organization and is neither involved in nor does it support any political activism. However, recently we came across certain media articles referring to HSS in connection with activities or events that HSS neither organized nor was involved with.” HSS activities are US-based, and its membership consists of US-born, raised, and additionally immigrated from diverse countries worldwide. HSS works with and across all communities in the United States.

Our long history of community service has been widely acknowledged, both in terms of public citations and in developing partnerships with elected leaders, government agencies, schools, interfaith, and more.

What is missing in all our work and action is negativity. Our record is transparent that reflects nothing but working across American society. We challenge such publications to find a case where HSS has criticized any other group, community, faith, gender, etc. However, it is an open record to see the history of negativity and guerilla attacks on Hindus and, in this case, on HSS. It, unfortunately, reflects that such publications ignore the dark past of World War II when false repeated allegations of “a square is, in fact, a circle” resulted in inhumane hate against minorities. It is a matter of concern that such repeated allegations are rising against the peaceful and law-abiding Hindu community and Hindu organizations like HSS.

Regardless of such negativity, we continue to practice the Hindu values of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the Whole World is One Family).’ Our work will continue, and we will keep growing and making friends in the United States of America.
