East Coast
- NEW!! Northborough, MA. 16 teenagers participated in a 3-hour SNY marathon on Jan 21st and performed a total of 1500 Surya Namaskars. One girl performed 325 namaskars.
- January 19th, NY area held a 12 hour Surya Namaskar Marathon from 6AM to 6PM in Surya Narayan Mandir. During the Marathon, all of participants showed a lot of enthusiasm including 3 participants who managed to do over 800 Surya Namaskars each. Overall, 65 people participated and were able to perform 12,618 Surya Namaskars.
- Queens, NY held a 3 Hour Surya Namaskar Mini-Marathon. Over all, 18 people from varied aged groups participated in the event and managed to do 3,049 Surya Namaskars within the three hours. Video. Photos.
- Exeton,NJ. A mini marathon was held in which 18 participant who completed 650 Namaskars.
- Woburn, MA made an excellent start to the Surya Namaskar Yagna. We held 2 mini marathons and completed over 2500 surya namaskars. Around 25 people of all ages from 5 to 60 participated.
Mid West
- NEW!! HTGC Lemont IL. On 27th Jan. 08 was a remarkable event in many ways. We had a total of close to 100 people joining us for the event performing over 3000 Surya Namaskars. The Surya Namaskar Yagna started on 12th of January, in past 16 days with a total of 125 participants performed 4500 surya Namaskars.
South East
- NEW!! Memphis TN. A Marathon was conducted for continuously for second week. A 1 1/2 hr Marathon held on Saturday, i.e., 01/26/2008 from 11.00 AM - 12.30 PM. Marathon went very well and 23 people participated. In total we did 1023 surya namaskars during this one and half hours. Many new faces turned up. Prof. Shiva Sajjan ji, Head Of Department (Computer Science) University of Memphis distributed the certificates.
- Atlanta GA had a “Lahar” a wave of doing surya namaskars on 01/19/2008 from 9:30 Am to 6:30 PM during very cold and snowy weather. Surya Namaskars were performed continuously non stop one location after the other. Total 4171 Surya Namaskars were performed. Some young participants performed 120 namaskars.
- Tampa FL today started SNY with 12 hour Marathon from 7 AM to 7 PM. 65 people attended the SNY. 16 year old Akash belsare and 10 year old Deena singh completed 338 each followed by 20 year old Joel Brown. Shradda Belsare and Vijay singh completed 268. Total 4576 surya namakars were performed.
South West
- NEW!! Plano TX. A 2 hour Marathon was held in the public library. 43 people registered and total SN’s executed were in excess of 1,789 . Some people who showed up learnt about the event on the radio just an hour before the event!
- Houston TX had a marathon on the second weekend of the Yagna. It was participated by many organizations like SVYAASA, Swami Narayan, LBF and HCC. Over 8000 namaskars were recorded. Some kids completed in excess of 300 namaskars each!
- Houston TX organized one and a half hour marathan in a Public Park. It was done along with the Kite flying festival on the occasion of Makarsankranti. Over 160 participants from different organizations participated in 10 sets of Suryanamaskars. A total of 5200 SNs were performed.
