"Soil of ancient India, cradle of humanity, hail! hail, venerable and efficient nurse whom centuries of brutal invasions have not yet buried under the dust of oblivion. Hail, Fatherland of faith, of love, of poetry and science. May we hail a revival of thy past in our Western future!" -- Jocoillot, Author, Bible in India

HSS Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Mumbai, India Print E-mail
Hindu Swyamsevak Sangh, USA, most strongly condemns the coordinated terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India. The terrorists' prime targets were citizens of US and UK  in addition to people of India . More than 140 innocent lives are lost and more than 300 are injured.  A self declared organization called "Deccan Mujahideen" claimed the responsibility for this heinous act.

Martin Luther King Jr. once rightly said that "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."  In the modern context, "attack on democracy anywhere is a threat to democracies everywhere".  The attack in Mumbai, India, therefore is not an isolated incident but a matter of grave concern for the world.

The worldwide condemnation and offers of assistance and strategic support to India by the United Nations and various nations including the Governments of the US and, UK are gratefully appreciated.

It is in the same spirit that we offer our condolences to the families who lost their loved ones, and offer prayers for rapid recovery for those who are injured.  We urge all segments of the society to stay united regardless of their faiths and beliefs. It is imperative that the entire civil society -- all religious, non-religious, political and non-political organizations -- condemn such acts of terror-violence and help the  stricken community to  recover and reaffirm the common resolve for the dignified peaceful co-existence which is a hallmark of our culture. In order to achieve this societal goal, we also request the authorities to promptly bring to justice these enemies of democracy.
